It's based on a post I made in facebook several months ago. Something out of the blue tells me to re-post it here with a bit of more detail. As in, three-part blog post of rants and nonsense. Let's begin, Final Fantasy titles lead each other in.....
1. Final Fantasy 1 - The least popular.
Everyone knows Final Fantasy, and when I said everyone, I mean EVERYONE. Everyone knows Cloud's heroic story on defeating Sephiroth, stopping the comet and saving the world. Everyone knows about Tidus's love story with the summoner Yuna.
But! This is just a wild guess; do everyone knows about THE first FF? Do they know about the 4 unnamed warriors of light, princess Sarah and the evil Garland? Most likely gamers these days wasn't even born when the first FF came out (me included). And why it's called Final Fantasy? It got something to do with Hironobu Sakaguchi wanting this game to be his last but that's another story. Let's move on.
2. Final Fantasy 2 - The best soundtrack.
I know, this is a very subjective area. Everyone has their opinions about this, but there's a reason why I put Final Fantasy 2 as the FF with the best soundtrack, try this:
Or this :
MOMENTS OF PURE AWESOMENESS.
FF 9 and 6 would be the distant second and third, but in my personal opinion, nothing can beat FF2 in terms of soundtracks, even the original 8-bit version sounds magical, just look it up.
Final Fantasy 2 also has all sorts of political-combined-with-high-fantasy innuendo : from the rebellion of Fynn to the Emperor Mateus Palamecia conquering the satan himself. At first I want to pick this one as the most political Final Fantasy, but then there's FF12 and FF tactics.
Once again, FF2's soundtracks are instant classics it'll be amazing no matter what generation of gaming you are living in. I raise my hat to you, Nobuo Uematsu.
3. Final Fantasy 3 - The hardest gameplay
Have anyone ever told you that FF 3 was one of the hardest game of all time? Machinima's Steve and Larson made my point:
If you're a masochist, I really suggest you try this one. Don't worry though, not only you'll play while listening to a lot of Nobuo Uematsu's classic compositions, you'll face among the sexiest main bosses that ever graced the world of videogaming:
Bravo Amano, you can kick Tetsuya Nomura's ass any time.
4. Final Fantasy 4 - The most lovable antagonists
First it's the guy who graced the logogram of the game, THIS guy:
Next it's Golbez :
Don't be fooled by his scary appearance, he's among the most loving big bros in the world of videogaming. In fact, Cecil's storyline in Dissidia could be described in one word : BROMANCE.
5. Final Fantasy 5 - The most customizable characters
Boom. There you go; endless hours of customization: NONE of any Final Fantasy games has this many options for the playable characters' appearance.
OK, since it's a bit late and I'm starting to get drowsy; I'll stop right now. I'll continue some other time with more rants and nonsense.
Oh yeah, for you who celebrate: Gong Xi Fa Cai. Happy Chinese New Year! Enjoy the fireworks, dinner, the dragon shows, and mahjong matches.
Plus for girls, may your cheongsam fits perfectly into your lovely bodies.
